Woodside Fire Station 19
woodside fire station 19
Located in a quiet residential area, this fire station was designed with scale, form and materials that are compatible with, and found throughout, the neighborhood. The building materials are a combination of horizontal lap siding, vertical board and batten siding, overhanging shingled gable roofs and covered porch and deck area. The building is a two-story, split level design tucked into the sloping site in a manner that minimizes the overall height of the roofline at the apparatus bays and provides accessible entries at both upper and lower parking areas. Natural stone walls transition between the different site levels and create a low perimeter site wall as an extension of similar stone walls at adjoining and nearby properties.
Station 19 includes two, double-deep, drive-through apparatus bays, SCBA and turnout gear storage rooms, four two-bed dorms, two office/dorm optional rooms for future flexibility, three single-occupancy toilet/shower rooms, dayroom, kitchen/dining room with an adjacent exterior deck, exercise/fitness room, public lobby and restroom, and station office. A lower floor with at-grade access incorporates a training/meeting room, two restrooms and a small kitchen. The lower floor connects internally to the apparatus bay level as well as the upper floor.
