COAR Design Group (formerly Jeff Katz Architecture) managed the design and construction process of the main Gift Shop remodel at the Monterey Bay Aquarium which consisted of a phased remodel to update the layout, design, retail fixtures and overall aesthetic of the main store at the Aquarium. COAR coordinated with the design team as well as the Aquarium exhibits team to develop numerous design options, create full scale mock ups, and coordinate the bid and construction process in this highly visible location.

The project opened in late 2018 and has achieved an updated look for the iconic Aquarium and increased sales due to improved space planning and design.
