COAR Design Group worked in partnership with EC Constructors to complete this Design-Build Fire Station for the City of Chula Vista. Fire station 5 is located on an existing portion of Orange Park and adjacent to the Chula Vista South Library. Completed in 2021, this project includes the construction of a new 12,310 sf fire station to replace an existing station and improve response times on the west side of the City. The exterior of the station was designed to complement the neighboring Library designed by Ricardo Legorreta, which was a desire of the surrounding community. The interior of the station includes three apparatus bays, eight dorm rooms, single occupancy restrooms, fire offices (two of which can be converted to dorm rooms), day room, large kitchen, dining area, fitness room, and fire department operation spaces.

On-site improvements include public and personnel parking, generator, fueling station, hose drying area, landscaping, and storm water biofiltration areas. Off-site improvements consisted of modifications to Orange Avenue which included the addition of emergency exit traffic signals.
